My art practice has been a long process of coming home.
I was taught very young that being an artist was categorically not possible, like being a wizard or a fairy, so I spent decades flirting with art indirectly. Always drawn to beauty and truth, to the grotesque and the sublime, I followed spiritual ecstasy, orchestrated dance exorcisms, and even facilitated artist cohorts—but never dared to call myself an artist.
I moved through countries, careers, and identities for years, returning again and again to what drew me in—craft, outsider art, the Silk Road, language(s), ritual—always aching for something to fit, until, slowly, I glimpsed the core underneath all of it: I am an artist. My job is "simply" to channel Source through the mediums that call me (recently: painting, drawing, quiltmaking, weaving, net art, dance, facilitation, songwriting, electronic music, and the bağlama).
I like places where boundaries dissolve: between sacred and mundane, ancient and contemporary, highbrow and low. For similar reasons, I adore the Internet, and have made friends online since I was a child. Welcome to my corner of the Web!
